Fifteen years ago, Kwik Fingaz was one chair upstairs in China Doll Plaza. The name was a joke among our first clients — Shantell was faster than any other braider in Strand Street, and the nickname stuck. We kept the name. We kept the speed. Seven hundred heads later, we're still on the same corner, except the chair list now includes clients from California, London, and Toronto who schedule their flights around us.
We like to think of it as fast food for your looks — except way healthier for your self-esteem. You walk in, you get seen, you leave in an hour and a half with hair that lasts six weeks. The experience is quick. The work is anything but.
Braids are what built this place. Locs and natural hair are what keep our regulars coming back. Wigs, color, and bridal styling are how we handle special weeks. None of it is cookie-cutter. Every style starts with a real conversation about your hair, your schedule, and what you walked in hoping to see in the mirror.

Shantell is the senior stylist and owner of Kwik Fingaz. She's been braiding professionally for over fifteen years and specializes in the fast, neat, waist-length work that built the salon's reputation. Her Instagram DMs get messages from New York, London, and San Francisco every week — most of them asking the same question: "When's your next opening?"
Shantell is known for three things: speed without sacrifice, a real consultation before the first part is made, and the ability to build a style around your week — your flight, your beach day, your wedding, your Monday morning
